Costa Rica-based TMA and ITEK have launched a strategic collaboration to strengthen the medical device and advanced manufacturing supply chains in the region.

The alliance combines TMA’s expertise in medical-grade plastic resins and specialty chemicals with ITEK’s operational and logistical capabilities under the Free Trade Zone framework at Parque CLI in Coyol, Alajuela.

TMA leverages artificial intelligence to optimise decision-making, anticipate risks, and enhance operational efficiency. These measures aim to ensure consistent deliveries, improved risk control, and predictability across the supply chain.

“This alliance with ITEK is fundamental to TMA’s strategy. It allows us to focus 100% on providing the best plastic resins and strategic inputs to the market, with the full confidence that our logistics are in the hands of experts,” said Eduardo Castillo, CEO of TMA.

ITEK applies ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 certified processes alongside advanced management systems to automate inventory control and customs compliance. These systems enable full traceability, secure data handling, and agile execution aligned with medical device and advanced manufacturing standards.

“It is an honor to be the operational partner supporting TMA, applying ITEK’s high standards, including our ISO 13485 Quality Management System and our extensive experience in logistics management for products under the Export Logistics Service (SEL) model,” said Bernal Rodríguez, CEO of ITEK.

Both companies plan to capitalise on nearshoring opportunities, supported by ITEK’s expansion into the Dominican Republic. This positions Costa Rica as a strategic hub for the advanced manufacturing and distribution of specialised engineering materials for medical and life sciences applications.
