The Manufacturer of the Year – Wood Products category at the Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2025 drew a shortlist that demonstrated the range of capability and ambition within Ireland's wood products manufacturing sector, spanning timber frame construction, eco-conscious fuel production, and diversified sawmill operations.

Cygnum Timber Frame, Flamers Woodlogs, and Laois Sawmills made up the shortlist, each representing a distinct approach to wood products manufacturing. Their inclusion reflected the awards' commitment to recognising manufacturers that combine technical capability with sustainability and operational excellence across varying scales of production.

Cygnum Timber Frame brought a strong digital transformation story to the category, having fully automated its scheduling and production processes to double capacity and drive significant productivity gains in offsite timber frame manufacturing. Flamers Woodlogs demonstrated a sustainability-led approach, producing carbon-neutral, smokeless heating logs from 100% recycled compressed wood entirely in Ireland. Laois Sawmills, established in 1987 and operating across a 26-acre site with multiple subsidiaries, highlighted the strength of diversified wood products manufacturing in meeting a broad range of commercial and consumer market demands.

Cygnum Timber Frame was ultimately named winner of the category, with the judging panel recognising its pioneering approach to digital manufacturing and the measurable operational impact of its transformation programme.
