Ireland's food manufacturing sector has produced some of its most ambitious growth stories from the ground up, and Crust & Crumb is a compelling example of what sustained investment, innovation, and a can-do culture can achieve.

The company made it to the shortlist of Manufacturer of the Year – Food & Beverages at the Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2025, recognised as Ireland's largest manufacturer of ambient, chilled, and frozen flatbread and garlic bread products.

Operating across six state-of-the-art production facilities in Fermanagh, Cavan, and Armagh — including a dedicated Free From site and an Innovation Centre — Crust & Crumb produces pizza bases, topped pizzas, flatbreads, garlic baguettes, tortillas, and an extensive range of gluten-free and vegan dough-based products. Its manufacturing capability supports retail and foodservice customers across Ireland and international markets worldwide, including distribution channels serviced through major trade events such as PLMA in Amsterdam and Chicago, and Gulfood in Dubai.

Innovation sits at the core of the business. Working in partnership with clients, Crust & Crumb has brought to market concepts including Mother Yeast, Mother Dough, Long Ferment Dough, Superfood Infusions, High Protein, and Dairy Free Pizzas, demonstrating a product development capability that moves from customer brief to market launch with speed and precision.

Its sustainability credentials are equally strong. A 500kW wind turbine installed on-site generates renewable energy, while woodfired pizza production is fuelled by beech wood logs from sustainable sources. On-site electric vehicle charging points further reflect the company's commitment to reducing its environmental footprint across operations.

Crust & Crumb's shortlisting reflects the Manufacturing Excellence Awards' recognition of food manufacturers that combine production scale, innovation leadership, and responsible manufacturing practices. Its inclusion on the shortlist underscores the ambition and capability driving Ireland's food sector forward.
