Cabot Corporation (NYSE: CBT), a Boston-headquartered specialty chemicals and performance materials company, has completed its acquisition of Mexico Carbon Manufacturing S.A. de C.V. (MXCB) from Bridgestone Corporation.

According to a GlobeNewswire report, the transaction follows regulatory approval and a definitive agreement announced last August.

Located near Cabot’s existing Altamira, Mexico facility, MXCB provides additional production capacity and the ability to manufacture a wider range of reinforcing carbon products. The integration allows Cabot to serve diverse customer needs across automotive, industrial, and specialty markets more effectively.

“This acquisition represents a significant step forward in our strategy to grow in our core markets. By adding the MXCB facility to our global network, we are expanding our manufacturing capabilities, enhancing supply reliability for our customers, and positioning Cabot for long-term success,” said Sean Keohane, president and chief executive officer, Cabot Corporation. “We are excited to welcome the MXCB team to Cabot and look forward to building on our strong partnership with Bridgestone as we continue to deliver industry-leading reinforcing solutions around the world.”

Cabot has supplied Bridgestone with reinforcing carbon products for many years. MXCB’s capabilities will enable Cabot to meet evolving customer demand, improve operational flexibility, and support growth in high-performance materials.

Cabot’s portfolio includes reinforcing and specialty carbons, battery materials, engineered elastomer composites, masterbatches, conductive compounds, fumed metal oxides, and aerogels. Bridgestone, headquartered in Tokyo, employs approximately 121,000 people worldwide and operates in more than 150 countries.

The acquisition highlights Cabot’s focus on broadening its production capacity and operational reach to respond to increasing demand for performance materials worldwide.
