German global closures manufacturer Bericap has acquired Embankment Plastics, a Dublin-based manufacturer of plastic caps and closures, in a deal that marks the group's formal entry into the Irish market as its 31st company across 26 countries. Plastics News reported on the acquisition, confirmed on 9 April 2026.
Founded in 1977, Embankment Plastics has remained privately owned and has built its reputation primarily in dairy, food, and technical closures, with a strong record for product quality, customer service, and reliable supply.
Bericap said the acquisition represents a strong manufacturing base from which to continue building its business in Ireland, which the group said has been growing in recent years. The future Bericap Ireland will become a subsidiary of Bericap UK, enabling shared resource while maintaining local control. In the short term, the business will continue to trade as Embankment Plastics.
The group's aim is to combine its comprehensive product portfolio of plastic and aluminium closure solutions for the beverage, food, liquor, and chemical industries with current and new local opportunities, developing the Dublin site into a world-class Bericap facility.
The acquisition adds to Bericap's established presence across Europe and extends its reach into Ireland's manufacturing sector, where demand for specialised closure solutions spans food production, dairy processing, and industrial applications.
Bericap is a world leader in the development, manufacture, and supply of caps and closures, with operations spanning more than 25 countries and a portfolio covering plastic and aluminium closure solutions across multiple end markets including beverages, food, liquor, and chemicals.
The deal strengthens Bericap's ability to provide locally manufactured closure solutions to Irish and broader island of Ireland markets, with the Embankment Plastics site positioned as a platform for further growth and investment.
