UK-based capital equipment and service support supplier Altus Group has appointed two new field service engineers in Ireland, Brian Andrews and James Langham, following a period of significant growth during which the company secured several new customer accounts and expanded its regional activity. The appointments have direct relevance for electronics manufacturers across Ireland relying on responsive technical support and equipment service capability.
As reported by Machinery Market, the decision to invest in the Irish engineering team follows the passing of colleague and field service engineer Michal Ostrykiewicz earlier this year. Mike Todd, operations director at Altus Group, said the company wanted to honour that legacy and maintain the momentum Ostrykiewicz had helped create. Todd said: "Michal played a significant role in establishing our reputation for technical support in Ireland and helped create the strong foundations we continue to build upon today. We wanted to honour that legacy by continuing to invest in our Irish operation and maintain the momentum he helped create. As our customer base in Ireland continues to grow, maintaining the high levels of aftersales support our customers expect remains a priority. Brian and James both bring valuable industry experience and will play an important role in supporting our customers as we continue our ambition of becoming the go-to partner for electronics manufacturers across Ireland."
Andrews joins with experience spanning both equipment suppliers and electronics manufacturing operations, having previously held positions with Mycronic covering the UK and Ireland before moving into an operations manager role with Smart Electronics. Based in the Shannon region, he will support customers across Ireland with equipment installation, service and technical support.
Langham joins from Moog, where he most recently worked as a maintenance engineer, and will be based in Cork. His background in equipment maintenance and production support provides first-hand understanding of the operational challenges faced by electronics manufacturers.
Both engineers will undertake extensive supplier training and mentoring programmes over the coming months, working alongside customers while developing expertise across Altus' portfolio of manufacturing technologies.
The appointments form part of a broader programme of investment in Ireland that has included the establishment of a local entity, investment in facilities and continued team expansion. Altus Group supplies capital equipment and service support to the electronics manufacturing sector across the UK and Ireland, providing installation, maintenance and technical support for production-critical manufacturing equipment.
